Description:
AGLUTEX ALG120W is a high-purity sodium alginate derived from brown seaweed. Known for its ability to form viscous solutions and gels, it enhances texture, mouthfeel, and stability in various food products. Although this particular product batch has a high mannuronic acid content, which reduces its gel strength, it offers excellent functionality in beverage and ice cream applications—providing viscosity and preventing ice crystal formation.
Despite being past its shelf life, third-party lab analysis confirmed the material is microbiologically stable and free of heavy metal contamination, making it safe and effective for its recommended uses.
Key Features:
- Cold-soluble and easy to use
- Provides viscosity and freeze-thaw stability
- Certified Kosher, Halal, Vegan, and GMO-free
- Complies with EU food regulations (EC 231/2012, 915/2023, 396/2005)
- Free from allergens, irradiation, and nanomaterials
Note: Due to its high Mannuronic-to-Guluronic acid ratio, this alginate exhibits limited gelling properties, which makes it unsuitable for its originally intended applications. However, its high Mannuronic content makes it particularly well-suited for use in beverages (e.g., juices) and ice cream production. In beverages, it provides excellent viscosity, while in ice cream, it helps prevent ice crystal formation during freeze-thaw cycles.
Although the product is past its expiration date, testing by a certified external laboratory (see Neotron reports) confirms it is free from microbiological contamination and heavy metals, making it safe and suitable for the above-mentioned uses.
