Crude Tall Oil
Tall Oil Pitch (TOP) is a dark brown to black, highly viscous bio-based by-product obtained during the distillation of crude tall oil. Rich in rosin acids, fatty acids, and unsaponifiable compounds, it represents a cost-effective and sustainable raw material for a wide range of industrial applications.
Due to its excellent binding properties, high carbon content, and renewable origin, Tall Oil Pitch is widely used as a biofuel component, asphalt and bitumen modifier, binder in the wood processing and rubber industries, and as a feedstock for chemical synthesis. It offers an environmentally responsible alternative to petroleum-derived materials while maintaining reliable performance in demanding industrial processes.
The product is typically supplied in bulk liquid form and requires heated storage and transportation to maintain fluidity. Recommended handling temperatures range between 60°C and 90°C. Tall Oil Pitch demonstrates good thermal stability, a flash point above 150°C, and strong adhesion characteristics, making it suitable for applications where durability and binding performance are essential.
